One of the most common questions we hear is how many events can
an athlete swim in a High School meet and how is a High School Meet
scored.
An athlete can swim up to two (2) individual events and two (2)
relays OR one (1) individual event and up to three (3) relays.
Note that
only the Varsity Heat scores in a High School Meet. If there are two
heats of an event the Junior Varsity, non scoring heat, is run first.
Additionally, no team can sweep all three relays in an event. If a
single team takes 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in a relay event the fourth
place finisher is awarded two points.
Scoring is done by gender and
order of finish. In a standard 6 and 8 lane pools the scoring is as
follows:
